Barbara shares, “In 1986 I experienced an injury and was given Louise Hay’s incredible primer, You  Can Heal Your Life. This was my introduction to this teaching! In 2003 I visited the Center for  Spiritual Living in Asheville, NC, and felt that I had truly“come home to a place that sees God in  everyone’s eyes.”  I was licensed as a Professional Practitioner of Science of Mind in 2006, and in November 2007 I  created the forerunner of Open Door Center for Spiritual Living. I am so happy and grateful to be  doing my being, immersed in the joyous teaching of this ‘philosophy, this faith, this way of life!’”  Rev. Barbara moved with her family from Maryland to western North Carolina in 1971.  She holds Master’s Degrees in Consciousness Studies and in Psychology. She is the mother of two  daughters, Heather, also of western North Carolina, and Laurel, of Tampa, Florida. Barbara lives in  the Sylva area with her cats, Patti, Malachi, Cappy and Mac. Carol Johnson, RScP Carol was introduced to Religious Science in 1993 and knew she was on to something! Eager to  learn more about this teaching that focused on affirmative living, she immediately began taking  classes and believes that the Foundations class changed her life. She persisted in her studies and  was awarded the status of “Licensed Practitioner of Religious Science” in 1998.  Carol was born and raised in Wisconsin and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal  Arts with a major in Anthropology and Archaeology. She returned to school for Computer Science in  the early days of the ‘electronic age’. An interesting opportunity in health care computing presented  itself in 1982 that opened the door to a 25 year career in the health care software field. During this  time, Carol enjoyed experiencing many parts of the United States and Canada as facilitated by her  work. In 2004, Carol and her husband Fred, decided to live in the moment and made some big  changes. They both left their careers and moved to the mountains of western North Carolina where  they now reside with their fearless companion, Cameron the Black Labrador-Retriever that is  pampered and spoiled beyond belief! Never one to sit still, Carol decided that retirement was not an  option and pursued and received her license as a North Carolina Real Estate Broker. She now  enjoys helping people find their perfect home and works with Prudential Markham Bankston,  REALTORS in Franklin, North Carolina.  When asked who most influenced your life, Carol answered without hesitation, “Ernest Holmes. I  know I am happier, healthier and more loving and compassionate because of the teachings he  compiled, taught and lived by. I guess you could say he is my hero.”  Carol found her way to Open Door Center for Spiritual Living in late 2008 and now calls it her  spiritual home.    Leadership © Open Door CSL 2015
